He received his MD in 1995, which marked the beginning of his profound medical career. His postgraduate journey started at Mount Sinai University Services in New York City in 1996, followed by residency training in internal medicine and neurology at West Virginia University until 2001.
During his tenure at West Virginia University, he was appointed Chief Resident in the Department of Neurology, where he played a crucial role in training new residents and enhancing departmental success. His passion for pain medicine led him to the University of Iowa, where he completed a specialized fellowship in 2003, gaining expertise in managing diverse pain conditions, including those related to cancer and neuropathic pain.
His professional career has been marked by significant roles, including serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Neurology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 2003 to 2006. He then moved to Houston, Texas, where he joined the University of Texas M.D. faculty at Anderson Cancer Center.
